I plan on buying a domain within the next few days. Im pretty new to having my own site so I wanted to ask a few questions before I dive in without any prior knowledge. With that being said please don't sh** on me for "dumb' questions.

    1. I want my site to utilize WordPress, do I need hosting in order to use WP? For instance, is it possible for me to buy the domain and build my site without spending money on hosting UNTIL I want to launch my site?

    2. Lets say I want to buy my domain through GoDaddy and hosting through PowerUp. Would it make any sense to do that or am I better off just buying everything through PowerUp?

    3. Any other advice you would like to give somebody who's just starting a new site, would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks guys

    1. Yes, you can buy the domain and then wait until you're ready to launch it to buy hosting.
    2. That's up to you. Complications will arise no matter what you do. I've never used PowerUp so I can't really say how good it will be.
    3. Don't get discouraged. If you don't know coding and haven't done this before it can be quite stressful and difficult at times. Don't give up. Best of luck to you!

    1. NO! ..and yes.

You can use the free wordpress sites to make your site there and when your done buy the domain and hosting and transfer it.
But as you are new to this I suggest not to do this and also you will need to make your site to not get indexed.

Also you can virtual box on you PC and install the wordpress there ( for more info google it, its to much explanation )

    2. Does not matter if you buy the domain and host in the same place. I will suggest to buy the domain where you can buy it for cheap and also find a hosting that is good and well priced ( read lot of reviews )

    3. Don't use content form others you will not rank. Make your own content and make it unique and engaging.

This is a free tool to check if the content is original or not its really good tool for a free tool.

P.S. read a lot here about sites, blogging and seo before you start anything.

If you know nothing about wordpress, I think it could be a good idea to start on a free wordpress website. They are limited but they are free and you can earn some knowledge. I know that you can also link your own domain to those free wordpress site but never did it.

If you want to test the full functionality of wordpress, it is also possible to run a small server on your computer and host locally a wordpress site (I do this for testing sometimes). It can be a bit a bit tricky to set up for beginners, but there many detailed tutorials about this.

If you end out getting a hosting service, many will have a free wordpress installer and its very easy to have a working wordpress site. Else, installing it yourself is still quite easy.

First two answers you got from posts.

    Number 3
First of all write extra ordinary unique contents and related to your topic only. Without solid content you can't win google. And then you can apply for adsense too and earn good money.

Get backlinks from high PR and PA DA websites thus you will get good traffic from those site.

There are some members who are giving away free hosting with cpanel and no ads (for life!). They even give good tech support. I am using one of those, and I will say that I am absolutely pleased with the hosting and also with its support service. Now if someone says that free hosting has a lot of headaches, then the paid hosting services are not 100% great either.

Get a domain from namecheap/godaddy... godaddy offers a heavy discount on the first year registration.

Wordpress is a feature of Softaculous which is integrated with the cpanel, and is very easy to install and use. You don't have to buy it separate... If you find blocks in doing it (installation or using) right, then our members will always help in guiding you from time to time.

Even if the free hosting service begins creating difficulties and barriers (this happens even with some of the paid hosts), then you can always opt for a better hosting, and the easiest way for you only need to point the nameservers to the new host, which is also an easy process.

As you're new to this field and possibly have very limited funds to spend on an experiment, this could help you get the much-needed self-training, and later on you can shift to better service providers if you wish so. Getting the experience of having your own domain and testing all the features of Wordpress is a big advantage while you spend less than 2 dollars on the domain name only (while the hosting is free).

    P.S.:
Better to have separate providers for the hosting and domain name. I will tell you a reason:

Many years back, even before I joined BHW, I had won a .com domain name in a contest held by a UK hosting company. He created many difficulties for me to get the free domain name, but I still managed to get it. He was a domain name reseller so the domain name was in his control. Then a few months later, I found out that I wasn't able to log in into my account. I inquired but got no response. Then I complained on a forum about it exposing the host's name. Immediately I was told that he had sold off his business to another company, and that company was responsible about my domain getting jacked up... and any further open complaints about him or his service from me would invite a legal consequence. So that was the end to my first online dream! I lost the domain name as well as the hosting, and I've no doubt that the domain provider had lied to me, and I didn't know then anything about how to verify his words, or to take any other action...

You may not necessarily face the same, but why take risks? Don't have both controlled by the same provider, imo...

That is some good advice you have got given there.
When I first done my own wordpress site I went for the free one just to check it out and see what I could do.
I always think trial and error with most stuff. If you mess it up try again something different..... and repeat.
