You should be able to do it, however i have attached my debit card to paypal and always use it to purchase something.

I tried to buy a Fiverr gig today and my debit card payment through paypal was declined. I use St.Chrtered bank.

I heard that it auto-transfers money into your bank account (to which the card is linked) only when you receive any payment.

Yes, I really like this auto-transfer feature. Because I don't have to worry about chargebacks!

The above method works.
Latest: Just 2 days back, I bought 1 software, and used HDFC Bank's Netsafe VCC and did a Paypal transaction (as a direct guest payment, and NOT through uploading money first to my PP account and then paying the seller) successfully.
P.S.:
Before that, I tried a VCC created through my SBI account for the same PP purchase, but that VCC was rejected by PP. So HDFC VCC works for online international payments, while any Indian bank VCCs do not work.
