Backstory:
I have only recently started to learn about IM, and while I feel I'm a quick learner, I think I need some pointers. I have recently bought a niche website from someone on the marketplace, and while I am starting to see a few results, I'm actually doubting this domain and keyword will ever bank me a lot as the niche seems saturated and the keyword doesn't have a lot that can be said about it, so making quality content is hard. Instead, I've been trying to analyse what I got from my seller, to cut out the middle man in the future, and I think I have found a new niche I want to start in as well in the near future(with more possibility of turning it into an authority site eventually). To make this new niche site a success I'm thinking of my SEO strategy and I feel I need some help with this. To illustrate what my strategy is I will make up a scenario below. This is entirely fictional, and is purely to demonstrate my SEO strategy:
Niche: trombone playing for disabled children [NOT MY ACTUAL NICHE, Completely fictional]
keywords: trombone playing, trombone for disabled children, trombone for disabilities
blog posts: about 12 written so far. About 4/5 with my main keyword, and the others try to hit relating keyword strings to rank for multiple searches. I plan to post an article every 2/3 days. (Is that too much? Too little?)
Now, my Tier 1 SEO consists of:
wiki entries, a few high quality .edu links(relating to my niche), guests posts(again, hand picked, relating to my niche, probably 1 per week for the next 12 weeks), 5 web 2.0 blogs (should there be more?)
Tier 2 will be spammy links(blog comments, .edu profiles, forum profiles, etc) linking to my web 2.0 pages to create some sort of pyramid. Should there be a tier 3 somewhere?
My web 2.0 will be things like blogger, wordpress(do they all need to be on different platforms?) etc and will be blogs with about 4/5 (hand written?)articles with topics like: music for disabled children, learning to play trombone, how instruments are great for disabilities, etc
So things that are related to my actual money domain, but not quite the same.
Is this the right way to treat web 2.0? Or am I misunderstanding something? What else can I improve to this strategy to rank? And do I link my posts in my web 2.0 to my main pages, or to actual posts that have something more specific to give to the reader? I understand there are a lot of questions to answer, and I do think I'm on the right track, but I guess I just need someone to confirm and give me a little helping hand. Thanks very much in advance!
