Questions about using Youtube to help promote a local business.

Uploading the same promo video of a local business to Youtube several times using different keywords? Good or bad? Help SEO or not?


I have a local client that has a tourist type of attraction that is a little harder to pin down one or two key word (keyword phrases) but there are a lot of reasons why people would want to use this business for many types of special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, proposals, anniversaries, etc.


Would it be good to upload a promo video to youtube using separate keywords for each occasion?


Would that be spam to youtube?


Would it help SEO for the site? or at least get people funneled to the site from a link in the video?

I can't couldn't give you a definitive answer as to whether this would increase optimization for the video on Youtube. My guess is that the same video would be ranking for different keywords so you may see a higher volume of traffic to the website from this or just views of the video in general.

It will not help for on-site SEO but it would definitely increase the visibility of the site as an off-site tactic.

Whether or not Google would do anything to those separate accounts or separate videos I'm not sure but any time you impact user experience in a negative way, Google (owner of Youtube) does not like it.

Were you planning on using separate accounts to achieve this or upload multiple duplicate videos with the same account. If you are using the same account you may have to change the file name of the video each time.

My suggestion would be to upload one video to multiple video sites (i.e. Youtube, Vimeo, Daily Motion, etc), share it across social networks, embed it on the website and other properties that allow for embedding and just leave it at that.
