I'm interested in translating my site in an attempt to reach a bigger part of the market in my niche.

I've so far looked into GTranslate, and Translatepress... it seems like the latter would be more appropriate for me, it stores all the content on your own server (not google). Meaning they will index.

If you've tried it, I'd appreciate any tips on the best plugins, problems configuring, what not to do, results etc.

I think this would be an easy way to start ranking a lot of content in much less competitive searches, but are there any downsides to this?

WPML is the best with the most out of options, stable and working well,
you can download it for free from the downloads section, a free downloading website or check @Festinger service if you really want to be safe with

Translating articles in bulk may seem effortless, but it's not all rainbows and sunshine. You'll have to spend a good deal of time editing each piece of content to make sure it aligns with the search query.

I'm well aware, not looking forward to paying editors lol. I write up 2000-5000+ word articles :(

Yes I've seen that around, will do some more research on it soon. How have your results been with multi lingual seo? Did you start getting traffic from the targeted countries naturally?

yes, it's one of the easiest ways to get more traffic,
and since most of the foreign countries/langs are less competitive, you need no/less links to rank

It dont matter if you use Nulled or paid plugin you will have to use your own api.
Here's what I did. (Totally free)
Migrate your site to a local domain like .fr
Open eaxh page with old wp editor. Use a chrome translator extension, i used google translate extention. Hit translate page. Save page.
Done.
Translate url, title, alt image text manually via Google translate.
Good luck.
