So I just registered a .tips domain and it's one word plus .tips.

Anybody have any experience ranking these? I guess it's no harder than a regular .com.

I thought it might quite good because it reads "car tips" or "windows tips", etc.

That's a great domain for a site, particularly one you want to develop into an authority site. Your domain name will sound like that of a big brand and attract lots of click-through traffic if your site becomes popular.

IMO, you won't find it harder or easier to rank a site built on that domain than it is to rank sites built on regular domains. All domain extensions pretty much carry the same weight in the index.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I bought it. There's quite a few good ones around. I found some .reviews that are only 1 word too.

You don't really see them in the serps though do you? That may be because they are new and obviously can't have built up as much history as an old school tld. But I'm yet to see them rank well.

I think they may become popular in several years when your average joe knows about them, however have you seen any ranking yet? I have not.
