Is it possible to rank on the 7-pack using a fake address?

Also is it possible to rank above the 7-pack using no address on the site?

Has anyone done this?

Ranking locally without citations??? ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY

Citations do help give those nice clean links that you can use as tier 1's as they age.

However using a "FAKE" address will still work really well IF you can receive the code sent to the location.

Locally is by far the easiest area to rank.

Step 1. PBN links - hopefully your own.
Step 2. Citations - pretty easy
Step 3. Basic Social Setup
Step 4. You've now ranked 90% of local unless it's loan/lawyers

Sure but what if I don't have a fake address. Would it be possible to rank on the 7-pack or above it just with PBN links, citations and social signals?

Yes, you can rank with a fake address.
You need to look at how google is serving local on mobile, I just checked today and in my area local search displays ads then 7-pack and then organic.

You don't need to be able to receive mail at the address anymore, you can verify by phone now (but only 2 verifications per phone number I think).

Google make it pretty hard by sending mail to address. Phone verification is tricky. Try to find a Location Google Cannot find and use that address.

Of course it's possible to rank on 7 Pack fake, just like it is to pretend you have products on hand and send them out yourself while merely drop shipping ;) By phone verification buy a landline number on Skype in your area.

The die-hard map spammers never mail verify. They always phone verify.

There's 1 crazy mfkr I follow all the time. One of very few people I follow on twitter and The Guardian recently did a story on him. He goes by the name "maptivists" on twitter and stole a listing from the secret service. On top of that, he verified an address out in the middle of a lake. Steals peoples listings and renames them "lol... google ur my bit.ch". You can check out his latest stunts here: https://twitter.com/maptivists/status/440775367477850112

Also, Linda from Catalyst EMarketing, the lady with the forum about G local, she has an awesome post about map spamming. I got that bookmarked somewhere and it shows you some of the shit map spammers do to create fake listings with fake addresses.

So to answer your questions -

1) Yes you can't rank with a fake address. I have multiple listings like that ranking right now.
2) Yes you can rank without an address on the site.

I have done both. The only thing I'd disagree with is it being "easy". That's completely relevant to the industry and there are thousands of competitive local niches far more ruthless than lawyers and loans.
