Just sign up. "Baby" is the one you'll want. Hostgator customer service
is great - they've gotten me out of a few jams.

You'll sign up with a credit card or PayPal.

I don't think any company requires an ID for hosting, and if they did they wouldn't be in business for very long. I have never heard of any requiring one, but I've never used HostGator.

I didn't need any, but if your order is flagged as potential fraud for any reason, I expect you'll need to email some id.

If there is any hint of fraud, they might require an ID. Like IP from different country, claiming to be from other, and paypal account or credit card on someone else's name. Not only Hostgator, but it can come with any good hosting company.
