Questions about google ads

I have seen that some ads shown on the google search page are on the left side.
For example, when you search "whois" as a keywords on google, the ads

"Whois Lookup

http://www.who.is Global Whois Lookup for domain names and their owners"

will appear on th eleft side, not traditionally on the right side.

I am curious that what made the ads being on the left side. Do anyone know what should be done in order to make it the right?
