Questions about 301 Redirect?

Hey everyone, so im going to test out my first time using a 301 redirect. I just had a few questions hoping to get some advice would be great! Ok so first of all does it need to be a domain name that is similar to the niche im in or any domain? Does the domain need to have any good metrics or age? Sending all kinds of links at it do you want to do your anchor percentages right or you can just go ahead with only your main KWs? I appreciate any and all help thanks!

I redirect a few domains to my site, and the rest I throw up minisites and forward the link juice that way.

If you are going to go down the direction of redirecting, i'd say stick within similar industries, and dont just go scrapebox blasting this domain, if you back link with quality it will help you much better.
 
No. The domain doesn't have to be related to gain the authority.
Yes, The domain should have some good metrics. If not, whats the purpose of redirecting a domain that adds no authority to your site?
301 basically is a mirror to your site so whatever links you send to them will add up to your orginal domain so play safe while adding anchor texts. Treat it as if its your money site.

Yes. Why? Because I believe it's better to redirect let's say recipes domain to restaurant domain than recipes domain to fashion/clothes domain.

Pretty much a rhetorical question.

I would not send any links at it. Why? Because if you do, it doesn't look natural anymore.

what's the purpose behind 301? Will you use it as a spam/sape buffer or just trying to leach out the existing link profile?

Please don't confuse SAPE with the 301. SAPE is a blog network. In both SAPE & spam, you build backlinks to your site. 301 is totally different.

301's are used to tell search engines that a domain/url is moved to a new location and old location shouldn't be indexed or listed on SERPs anymore.

Let's say you've a domain called domain1.com with 1024 backlinks pointing to it from several high PR and authority pages/sites. With the help of backlinks, the domain is ranking high on Search Engine results. Since it has quite a few backlinks from authority sites and the domain is aged, it holds some good authority in the eyes of Google.

Now you 301 domain1.com to domain2.com but the domain2.com has zero backlinks. What'll happen now is almost all the authority that the domain1.com is holding on will be passed on to the domain2.com. The indexed pages for the domain1.com will be slowly removed from the SERPs and the domain2.com's pages will take over that place.

The domain1.com doesn't have to be relevant to the domain2.com in order to pass the domain's authority.

What happens now is when everytime search engine spiders crawl through the domain1.com's backlinks, it'll pass and push it's authority to the domain2.com while domain2.com will be drawing in all the authority to itself and growing enlarge in the google's eyes.

Now you build a bunch of high quality relevant backlinks via guest post or web 2.0's to domain2.com.

With all the authority it is holding already, and now with the help of all these relevant backlinks, it'll skyrocket on to the top of search results cos Google now sees domain2.com as both relevant and an authority site.

I'm not sure I understand your question but I'd check those PR7 backlink pages on Google to make sure it's indexed before buying them.

I think you misunderstood my question. I'm well aware what SAPE is xD

by "using 301 as a sape/spam buffer" I was asking him will he point those (sape/spam) links to his 301 domain which will then transfer and filter link juice to his moneysite.

There are a lot of ways you can use a 301 domain, this is just one of the strategies that works at the moment and it helps to keep your moneysite "clean". If you see any negative or no movement, simple remove 301 and you're set.

So we should use unrelated high PA, DA domain and add backlinks with niche related anchors?

Guys, some of the biggest sites in the world have dozens of sites redirected to them. They buy their competitor and just redirect it to their home page. Why is it hard to understand that 301 is not a sin, if everything is done properly.

It works and in my case, I've 301'd 7 expired domains all to a single money site and they definitely boosted its rankings.

It's not like we should but we CAN redirect totally unrelated domain to your site and it'll still pass the authority. If the domain being redirected is niche-relevant, then it's just the added bonus.

If you have a relevant domain, use it. If you have an irrelevant domain, use it too. But, generally, a relevant domain will provide a bigger serp rise than an irrelevant one.
 
so I'm looking at domains I'm finding really aged niche related domains but none with backlinks only good age, or I'm finding aged domains not niche related but with backlinks and ok metrics what is better to go with do you think?Thanks
