I'm currently working on project for Youtube, which is to be completely white hat. In my opinion the most important thing for me to be focusing on is using proper keywords. (At least to start off with).

I'm currently using the keyword planner from adsense. What I was wondering is there a better tool to be using for keyword research for Youtube?

Also, what are your thoughts on ranking on Youtube with proper keywords?

The keyword planner is a good tool, according to me.
But you should focus more on creating quality, engaging content if you want your video to rank well in YouTube search or suggested videos.
If you can keep your viewers watching for at least the first 15 seconds of your video, you are on the right track

I really appreciate the advice, Tommy Lawrence!
I completely agree with you on the point of creating quality and engaging content. It's my personal belief that the most effective method in generating long term organic traffic is by giving people content that they desire to share of their own accord.

The keyword planner sucks it has no data for most keywords. Theres a method i use and id be glad to give you some tips

I put my keyword judgements on the keyword planner too. If it's popular on google, then it's likelyyo be popular on youtube

Every keyword tool out there, uses data gathered from Google's keyword planner. With that said, your best bet is the keyword planner.

With everyone putting their money on Google's Keyword Planner.
I'm guessing there isn't a keyword tool specifically for Youtube?

Nope, not that I know off. Since Google owns Youtube, Keyword planner is still your go to tool.

I figured that would be the case, and I guess at least with using Keyword Planner you'll have better odds ranking with google's search engine. If I'm getting my facts straight that is.

Oops I'm sorry I got confused, I actually don't use keyword planner for my Youtube videos.
Youtube has their own keyword tool called Keyword Suggestion Tool. It's a great tool that gives you excellent statistics on various words that are searched on Youtube search engine, as well as suggesting numerous other related keywords. Check it out:

TOMMY!!! Dude!!! I owe you a flippin super cookie, or something like that.
Just run my list through the Keyword Suggestion Tool, and let's just say my results are completely different from Google's Keyword Planner.
Seriously, you may have saved me a lot of trouble and confusion! :clap2:
