[QUESTION] Where to start with new website?

Long time lurker/reader, first time poster.

First off, I'm not looking for someone to do everything for me. I'm looking for a starting point to which I can grow my business. Basically, I have built a website: spread-option.com, which is a site dedicated to nothing but college football. I'm at a loss at what to do with it to monetize it. It doesn't really fit into selling items, ecommerce etc. I'd like to eventually create a brand for it and sell shirts, wrist bands etc but for now I was thinking about selling ad space. I'd like to boost Google rankings and have a social media presence (which I have already created Facebook/Twitter account). But what else could I do with it?

I have read a LOT of information regarding link building on SENuke Xcr, article writing with keywords, using scrapebox for keywords and so on. I guess my head is just reeling from reading everything and not knowing which avenue to go down in order to minimize wasted time.

Any advice/help is very much appreciated as I know I'm a total noob when it comes to SEO/marketing.

Start with PBNs if you can afford one

There's also 301 redirects from relevant expired domains.

This is my general outline:

1. find good keyword
2. buy domain
3. set up wordpress
4. put content on it
5. EITHER: a, do backlinking yourself OR b, buy a nice service
6. repeat, track, improve.

The current name of your domain seems to be something that you would not be able to easily maximize, especially with the niche that you have, which is football. Selling products and services can be good, but you still need to drive traffic into your website. Try making use of social networking sites such as Facebook to widen your reach.

Sometimes when a niche doesn't seem to be monetizable, think about the audience you have.
Who are the people that read about college football?

Guys that are 18-35 maybe.
What do guys that are in that age range buy?

A shit tons of stuff!
Dating products, health and fitness, car insurance... the sky is the limit yo.

Produce quality content then monetize with Google AdSense.

Once you have the traffic you can start thinking about monetizing with your own product.s
