    Dear all BHW Seniors :weather02,

I have just joined an affiliate network and now am trying to promote a specific product via Adwords, but the biggest confusion comes when i want to track the keywords from which i will have my sales.

What is the best tracking software for PPC? Is there a software that can handle both Search and Content Network?
    And...ummh..preferably free :p cause i really am in a tight budget :p

    Do you recommend Xtreme Conversion?
Also, does anyone here know about 'Optimize My Site 2.0' from Jeremy Palmer? does it work great?

Please share your knowledge and experience Seniors. I can't thank you enough for your help.

Thanks guys for your information but as far as i know Google Analytics only tells us what keywords our visitors coming from but it doesn't tell you which keywords are converting.

I need to know what keywords are converting into sales from search and content network.

    What do you recommend experts?
    Xtreme Conversion? Hexa Track?
Has anybody tried Optimize My Site 2.0 by Jeremy Palmer?

Please share your experience BHW experts. Thank you so much for tour help.

it depends on which is best for you depending on where you are getting your traffic.
Ive been using a lot of adtrackz and prosper202, but each has a few better features than the other in certain ways.

for instance, with prosper202 the amount per-click values you can enter are limited to 2 positions after the decimal, like $xxx.xx per click. so if you are using traffic from a ppv source where the ppc is usually something like xxx.0102 per click, it wont fit and you have to round it up or down. adtrackz will let you put the number in properly, but then adtrackz is more work to get the campaigns up to track keywords because you need to supply it with the cost per click when setting up, and you might not know that yet until you enter the keywords into your traffic company, and you cant do that yet unless you want to manually enter them one at a time which sucks.

i guess they each have their pros and cons, as far as the BEST, i dont know, but i am mostly using prosper202, it seems suited for ME for what im doing right now, and its free as well

Don't forget to check out keyword Radar. Only problem is that it is a web based service stored on their server and it is pretty costly @ $97 per month. But it is a very good service.

Prosper202 is really good in terms of tracking and more ever its free. The only issue is that prosper202 is not supported on godaddy. Another good tracker is the conversion prophet.. I am yet to understand how to really use it... :)

As suggested above Hexatrack is another good one

Google Analytics cannot pass on affiliate network subids/trackingids so is useless for conversion tracking if you're promoting affiliate products.

Google Analytics for tracking where users come from. For Conversion i use the Analytics Ecommerce Modul wich works quite good if you know that you can use it for tracking different values for each conversion.

Of course one other problem with Google Analytics is that I assume it doesn't work if the user has javascript disabled, which is why I'd never use it...

The free & cheap way to do this is to try asking your affiliate mgr if you can pass variables through your affiliate links. Many programs let you pass a variable such as subid.

Then you can create a link for each keyword in your adwords campaign that includes the keyword. You can do this on a spreadsheet and then paste the keywords & links into adwords editor.

If you don't want the aff network to see the actual kwds, you can use a number system or any other system to do this.

When you look at your detailed reports on the network, you will be able to see the data you passed for each sale you generated.

You can also ask your aff mgr to place your google pixel for you on the campaign. That way, you will see hte conversion at the keyword level in your adwords reports.

    good luck.

let me know if you need a spreadsheet with the keywords and I'll hook you up with the one i use. sharing is caring.
