[Question] What encoding method used here to make content unique?

I came across a PLR website and got a sample article. I understand that PLR's are not unique. When I ran this through copyscape, the result came out unique with zero matches.

But when I put the content (delivered in notepad) into MS Word, it shows lot of spelling mistakes.

Curious, I decided to save the text with .html and opened in a browser. That is where I saw these accented characters.

How is it that words like àrå, ànó, thå³r in HTML is showing up as "are, any, their" in notepad/word?

i dont know how but people use it to sell copied articles on fiverr. it passes copyscape. then your site gets 30 of these and boom penalty
