For a brand new domain, the single most effective priority is targeting ultra-low competition long tail keywords. You cannot compete on authority yet, so your only leverage is relevance on topics that big sites ignore. I would focus entirely on publishing content for search queries with very low volume but high intent to get your initial traffic.

To be honest you can't expect super ranking improvement if you are targeting high competitive keywords. In the first month it would be wise to optimize Title /Meta descriptions and website speed.
