Have you guys dealt with a local client that wanted to focus "only" on service pages and NOT blogs? What if you run into a situation where the site is bleeding out clicks, but close to 90% of that hemorrhage is coming from blog posts?
  • Would it be beneficial to just move the /blog/ section to a subdomain?
  • Can the negative performance of the blog posts send some sort of "bad signal" to Google and affect the keyword rankings on the entire site?
  • Can a poor website structure have this sort of impact on keyword rankings?
Any insights will be deeply appreciated!

What do you mean blogs are bleeding out clicks. Do the users enter the site go to blog posts and bounce out?
Have you used any session recording to check where users are coming from what they are doing. You can try hotjar it has free trial.
If the blog is problem then yes.
Yes it sends bad signal for whole site.
Yes poor structure is bad for keyword rankings as it will kill the dwell time.
