question to all people using hacked themes

i'm about to take a huge step forward in my main and only project, so i want to make sure that everything is udnercontrol and i wont regret things in the future.

i found great themes in the downloading section, and i've been excited to use them, so i made a small research and found this and now it's holding me back:

anyone one had a bad experience with hacked theme ? im working on the long term and i don't want to get harm in the future.

i would also like to know as well! i've been using a nulled theme for one of my niche Amazon affiliate sites for months now and haven't had any issues... but idea of the hacker(s) that nulled the theme could take over my site or destroy it at any time is pretty unsettling. :eek:
 
I think the themes in the download section should be relatively safe but you are taking a chance.
If you are going to use one, then just use it until you can afford to upgrade.
 
You should take caution with any nulled or hacked theme or application. It is certainly possible that a backdoor could be created for future use by the person distributing the theme or app. If you're concerned then replace the theme with a paid one.
 
Fine for now, in the future though just purchase a theme. One less thing to worry about.
 
I have had experience with nulled themes allowing the theme creator to place links on my sites. Not gamebreaking, but annoying enough that I use only legit themes now.
 
Just takes a couple suspicious things to double check and get rid of with a simple text search.. I believe there were threads in the past where I elaborated already about how to make reasonably sure you're not phoning "somebody else's" home..
 
You can check a theme easily for malicious code with this plugin from wordPress.org and it's free

I share quite a lot of themes, mostly from what i come across on torrent sites, but some i paid for.

Your goal should be too use them short term to help you get going - then definitely pay for it when you can.

Which theme was you looking at?

I recommend starting with a nulled theme, tbh. But after discovering that you enjoy the theme as much as you thought you would, support the developers and make the purchase. Your (and others') investments would likely contribute to future updates and new features and bug fixes for the theme.

i dont use hacked themes ( shell included and sometime well encoded ) but buy at cheap price :D
 
Just for testing. I'll buy the geniune if satisfied and use them for long term.
 
Pirated copies of premium WordPress themes such as Woo, Elegant, Studiopress, Wp-Now are easily available on many websites and these are easily downloadable.
 
Expect to get your server hacked.

Unless a friend shared it with you, there is a 99% chance the files were injected with malicious code.
