Question regarding wire/bank transfer

1. Is Wire transfer same as online bank transfer? Or why they're called differently?

2. If someone has paid me via bank(wire) to my wise.com account, is there a chance for that person to dispute the payment on me? Because when i asked ChatGPT, it told me that for the wire/bank transfers dispute/chargeback is almost impossible, but with very low chances it can happen. Or is this a nonsense?

3. Can anyone tell me how to be 100% sure that once someone has paid me via bank/wire, he/she will not be able to open a dispute. I just want to make sure that i'm safe while providing services/selling products online and my client won't chargeback me.

There's no payment that can't be disputed. If you had received the fund via wire transfer by fraud and the victim gets police report to have the fraudulent transfer returned, the money will be returned and where the recipient account has even run out of balance, it will run negative balance.

Thanks for your response. But if a client paid on purpose from his own account(not a fraud), can he/she still chargeback? Or that's only possible with visa/mastercards?

Because if a client paid himself and did that on purpose, i don't see how it's possible for him/her top open a chargeback for bank/wire payment?

Even if the client paid you directly on his own admission through his own bank account, he can still file a police report/claim he's been defrauded directly with the bank if a scam took place. That doesn't mean that the money will be reversed like a chargeback but most likely an investigation will take place and if you're in the same country they can find a way to return the money.

Don't scam people and you won't have to worry about this. It's a huge pain in the ass for a buyer to do all this and they won't do it unless you actually defraud them.

Even if the police got involved, depending on your country, nothing will happens.

It's not about scam. Some people can be not happy with the service and try to chargeback, even though I fully delivered. I'm in social media marketing business and sometimes people like to chargeback on it. But I always deliver what's agreed.

So chances that someone will open a chargeback and get his money succcessfully are almost close to 0 with wire transfers?

yes, wire transfers are not reversible. The only way for them to get the money back is basically to sue you for damages or get the law involved

They are slightly different

Wire transfers are typically done through a bank or financial institution, often requiring manual setup and verification which involves SWIFT, Fedwire, or similar networks for domestic or international transfers and may take up to 1-2 bus days

While online bank transfers are typically "online" done through a bank's online portal or mobile app. Can be part of online banking features like bill pay, peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers, or internal transfers.

No. Not possible.
If it goes through a bank, a chargeback can always be initiated. Whether it is success or not is another story.
It's not as simple starting a chargeback in paypal, but it also depends on the bank institution, they may freeze your assets entirely if too many complaints come in.

Wrong outlook on the business.
Maybe focus on providing quality service/products so they don't feel like they need to chargeback.
Chargeback happens in all business, on and offline. You can always dispute your purchase; consumer laws exist.
If you really want to proceed down that road, then look into crypto payments instead.

That's everything in life. If you can't get into an agreement, provide the refund and move on and blacklist them for further purchases.

Yeah, but correct me if i'm wrong, opening a dispute and getting the money back is way more harder for a client than opening a dispute with PayPal/Visa/Mastercard right?

So opening chargebacks, after a client made multiple wire transfers for me, is much more complicated and harder(for a client to receive the refund) rather than doing this via Cards/PayPal, am i right?

Typically your bank going to be verifying details with a fine-tooth comb. (unlike Paypal)
So, unless they really have clause of being "scammed" or being in the right of a dispute, it is much harder to win a chargeback (just because they dont like what they received) on the buyer's side.

1-Wire transfers are often for international/inter bank, while online bank transfers are typically domestic.
2-Wire transfers have low charge back risk but aren't entirely immune.
3-To minimize disputes, have a solid contract and use secure platforms like Wise for transaction tracking.

So guys, just to put it simple. It's very unlikely that I'll get a chargeback from a client who paid me via wire transfer, example - wise.com ?

I provide social media marketing and from time to time there are some unhappy clients, very few, but it happens. It costs both my time and money to provide such service and I wouldn't be happy to refund the money for let's say 4-6 months work , because it would be a complete waste of money and time.

So if they pay me by wire(bank), it's very unlikely that they'll be able to open a chargeback? Because I know it's very easy if they pay me via paypal or visa/mastercard, then opening a chargeback is easy. But that's not the case with bank and happens really rarely?

Any experience from other users?
