Suppose I buy a domain- SEOmaster.com
Will I have to buy SEOmasters.com too?
Can someone register a similar name domain and build a similar website?
What do you recommend?

no need to buy SEOmasters.com or SEOmaster.net, etc, that would be too many domains to register; yes people can copy you, but they won't.
 
There is not much you can do about this. One can still buy SEO-master.com, SEO-masters.com, TheSEOmaster.com, The SEOmasters.com, SEOmaster.co, SEOmasters.co, and the list is long.
 
Should I go for a brandable domain then?
If i buy the domain and someone copies it, I can take legal action right?

Yes, you can take legal action towards them if they will copy your content or your website's theme (if paid) but not for SEOmasters.com. In brandable domain name too the same problem will arise.
 
Nope, You will get or own only that domain you bought. To prevent others from purchasing domains with similar words, You may have to make your own property "trade Marked" if that is possible.

Like Intel, Apple etc.
 
Hi, @https://www.blackhatworld.com/members/curiousme.1081482/! You do not need to buy other domains. Register your domain to protect it. It is best if you could have it locked for a long time so that you have the sole right to use it. I also suggest that you register it as a company for the trademark, instead of having it registered under an individual's name.

I'll do both, if those are available you should not have posted those names.
 
if that's the name you want it'll cost you roughly $10k USD, and the .org and .net and .us .info .de .ch .uk .es .tv and so many more are bought up in that name as well. You're about 15 years too late to get that at hand reg price

Just register your main Domain. No need to register other extensions also. People can copy your entire website but THEY WON't DO IT. if you are providing any service then you should have your Trademark or Patent registered.
