I have a Baby Hostgator account. Registered a long time ago under a domain name that is linked to a site I want to sell. My question is... is it possible to change the main domain name in a Hostgator account? And if so, how does that affect the databases and email accounts and all other things created under this main domain name?

I have contacted Hostgator about this a couple of times, but I get different answers and don't want to mess all of my sites. Your input will be appreciated!

Sure you can change your domain name and there is no effect in your databases - they are "linked" to your username, not domain, ie:

    - username: blackhat
    - main domain: blackhatdomain.com
    - addon domain: blackhatdomain.net
    - databases: blackhat_wrdp1, blackhat_wrdp2, etc

Your email accounts will be deleted but files will persist, so all you need to do is recreate those email accounts. It's better to raise a support ticket
