There is no logo on the theme currently, right? If there is it is being pulled from the css file.

If that is the case, then make sure that your new logo has the same dimensions as the existing logo. (I'm assuming that this is a wp blog.) To add your new logo go to the admin dashboard and click on 'Media' in the left menu, then click 'Add New'. Upload your new logo there and make a note of the full url of the uploaded image.

If you have an existing logo then go to the theme editor and open the css file. Look for the logo being called in there, then replace the path with the full path to the newly uploaded logo.

If there is no logo at present, then edit your header file. I would suggest that you start by taking out all the code between brackets where it has bloginfo('name') and put the full url of your uploaded logo in there instead, using the img src code. You will have to play around with that to get it to look right.
