So I moved up from a shared host to a V-Ded (with the same company) when I move everything over will this effect my SERP's? Are there any precautions I need to think of and implement before I make the migration and point the domains over?

If the only thing changing is your server (not domain, pages, web location etc) then there is nothing to worry about.

a few things, if you tell them that you want a dedicated IP and that you don't want the IP to be changed, then you should be fine. But note, your IP of the domain/server being changed could effect your rank, but maybe not much.
also, with a vded, there isn't much difference other than you have a new UI to play with, and it is a little more spacious.

I think Google won't do bad things about. But before you upgrade, do some backups in your files.

ok cool. That all does sound legit. Ill just make sure that I have everything backed proper.

thanks again peeps!

Back everything up at least twice:)

If your running any sort of database and/or backend you need to take care of that - backup database, check for references to it through site.

Also if you have backend, be aware the real paths to files will change.

Other than that you should be fine.
If the site becomes faster it may well have a positive effect on your site.

There will be a slight drop in rankings, but you will come back, max it has taken me to come back is 1 month. So plan accordingly. Best advice would be to make a smooth transition without any downtime.

Why should there be any drop ?

Yes Ive herd that too that they could drop slightly but because google likes vded's/ded's that they rank sites on those servers better. I hear that google rly does not like shared servers :S

There will normally be a drop if you don't take care of everything during the move - like if paths change or htaccess/redirects/robots etc.

If you take care of all that then should be fine- I have done several times.
