I already know the definition and basic how-to's of a Proxy like What is a proxy? How to configure your browser for a proxy, etc. I even can Google and find out some of the proxies. Now, what I don't know are these:

How do I test whether the proxies I find from Google really work?
For example, I use some set of proxies (collected by manual Google-ing) for my Super Alexa Booster. But when I analyze using a Real Time Website Traffic Monitor, I don't see any hits. If I refersh the website, I see a hit but not when I send hits using Super Alexa Booster.

So, I am just trying to understand how can I test whether a proxy is working or not. OR Is "trial and error" the only available method?

    Can someone please clarify me?
