I'm considering a relevant, high-volume keyword as my primary keyword and several lower-volume keywords as secondary keywords. Currently, my site is ranking on the second page for the primary keyword. I want to push my site to the top 5 positions. If I achieve first position for many secondary keywords, will my site rank in the top 5 positions for the primary keyword?

No - You need to plan a different strategy to rank for your Primary keywords.

You have answer in your own question ;)

There is no guarantee of ranking for your primary keyword even if you rank for secondary keywords. You can achieve higher rankings for your primary keyword by following these steps:
  • Optimizing On-Page SEO: Optimize your pages according to your targeted keywords, including meta titles, headers, and descriptions.
  • Keyword Integration: Include these keywords naturally in your content.
  • Interlinking Strategy: Implement a proper interlinking strategy to enhance your site's internal link structure.
  • High-Quality Backlinks: Build high-quality, relevant backlinks targeting your primary keywords.
  • Website Speed: Improve your website speed for both mobile and desktop versions.
  • Social Signals: Engage with social signals to boost your site's visibility and credibility.

You're almost right. But still, you may need some strong links for your primary keywords that is high volume one. Just look at the top websites for keywords and see their backlinks profile.

And create more content relevant to the topics, that will help you get topical authority

I have shared my tips on the same in this post - https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/h...bsites-for-high-competition-keywords.1615609/

Achieving the top rankings for the secondary keyword will help rank the main primary keywords. But as I mentioned in the previous comments, there is no guarantee. You can do a competitor analysis to check what topic & relevant keywords they are ranking. Focus on that and build links from quality sites.

No one can tell if it get's to top 5 positions, but sure it will help. Make sure to internal link low volume keyword pages to primary one's. It is not just about high volume keywords, sometimes high volume are low competition too. Search the keywords on chrome with MOZ toolbar on, and select keywords where low DA sites, and where sites with DA comparable to you are ranking, write content on those keywords. This is sure way to rank pages.

Ranking first for several secondary keywords can boost your site's relevance, which might indirectly help with your primary keyword ranking. But it doesn't assure a top 5 spot, as that also depends on content quality, user experience, and technical SEO factors. Optimization is key for improving primary keyword ranking as well.

Finaly a good and subject answer

there are 2 main factors that will possibly push your main keyword(s) in the SERPs,

if you're planning to build backlinks targetting the page(s), that will push the overall page ranking,
even with partial match anchors which in your case are the secondary keywords,

if you're willing to optimize the page(s) for these secondary keywords to rank & they do,
that will improve the page overall search CTR & possibly the users UX signals and that can push the main keyword(s) as well,
i wouldn't personally rely on that, links can do the work for all of the keywords & give you more authority overall
