There's an image that I want to use in my header for my first affiliate site.
The image is some fan art for a popular video game.
I contacted the original artist, and they said that they are not the copyright holder of any property related to the video game, and that it would be unacceptable for anyone to affiliate it with a commercial product.
But I want to know if I could get into any trouble if I decide to use it anyways.
Thanks for any reply's in advanced.

It is very unlikely that the owner of said image will ever find your website, even if they do you will not be sued. You will be politely asked to remove it, and if you don't after that initial warning, they will seek financial payment. You'll be okay.

Thank you! I'm still in high school, and in our computer class they make a pretty big deal about this stuff so it makes me a bit paranoid.
    Thanks again.

I had a Canadian stock photo company try to extort me for $2,700 for using an image of theirs. They will use all kinds of scare tactics, but in the end, it's almost never worth it for them to pursue legal action unless they can prove you've made a significant amount of money from their image.

Like other posters said, it is doubtful that anything will happen.
