Ok say i have a domain Popular-Jokes.com and there is a site called PopularJokes.com would it matter if i had a dash(-) in the middle of my words as far as page ranking? Also another question what is traffic rank and is 777,000 traffic rank in alexa good?

Well im guessing that your name has an advantage in ranking, but still your going to need lots of backlinks. And yes that traffic rank in alexa is good. But not the best.

I have tried both the "dashed" domains and domains with out the dashes. I have not seen a hole lot of difference in ranking. As far as the Alexa ranking goes, it only seams to matter when you try to sell or buy a domain.

:)

ok just a thought of mine to clarify,.com or .net is better with keyword rich domain name

Yea mine is a dashed domain name and a .net there is currently other ones but the only ranked is a .us first/second page on the search so

i could never find a really definitive answer on the dashes in domain issue.

I thought the only disadvantage to having a dash in your url is for the nitwits would can't remember that it's in there. Since no one will see any of my websites on the sides of trucks or even on a business card, I no longer sweat it.

So if my site is just a internet site meaning its not something in real life like a personal business i should be fine?
