Just a quick question and wondering if others have seen this.

I went and left a comment on a blog. A few days later I noticed in GWT on the 'Links To Your Site' part that I had a couple hundred links from the blog domain. In GWT it's 1 linked page with total links in the hundreds. On Ahrefs I can see where the links spiked up and slowly fell off throughout a 3 month time span on the graph. After a while the GWT numbers fall down as well.

I've always wondered why this happens. I just had a new site go one day from 7 links to over 100 and the majority are from one domain where I left a single blog comment. No other linkbuilding done at the time.

Just curious if any others have seen this?

    Cheers!

That's because the link appears many times on the site on different pages. Maybe the site is using a 'recent comments' widgets.

ahhh okay Thanks! I was thinking maybe because it was on a category page and tag pages but that still wouldn't amount to that high of a number. Recent commends widget sounds like that could be it.
