Question on affiliate cloaking and using Thirsty Affiliates

This might be a newb kind of a question but couldn't find a good straight answer. Actually more than one question.

1. Is the Thirsty Affiliate Plugin Amazon safe?
2. If I use a Thirsty line, can Amazon tell where the original traffic came from?

I'm using a Thirsty Link on classifieds to go to the product page and then another Thirsty link to Amazon store and other affiliates. Seems redundant but I want to protect my account while use some tactics frowned upon.
