Question: Local Search Count

Is there any software or any way to determine local search results for a city or small geographic area in the U.S.?

Google keywords tool will show you local search volumes but I can't be sure how local those figures are. It might be worth a look though.

Google's local search tool is not local as in communities, etc. Say I am in Virginia and I want the local search results for widgets in Milwaukee, WI, what do I do?

The only way I know is to set up an adwords account for the area I am interested and test for the keywords. I want to know past data.
