I have a website and my cousin also we are a local business owners and would like to be on google maps local business and stay there. I see everyone uses software for google and we do also but more focusing and targeting in our local area. do these software and techniques work for us also?

Your question is confusing to me. Not sure what you are talking about. Getting listed in Google Maps is pretty simple, then you just have to work at promoting your listing to the top. If you can clear your question up, I will try and answer it better.
sorry about that.do we have to do the same as for a web site and to be on google? all were trying to do is come out the results in the 7-pack local business search lets say by typing computer repair los angeles
now lets say the other 6 have been up there and promoting what is it gonna take for one of us to take over their spot and be there? more promoting? more reviews?

There are some differences between how you promote a business for organic Google listings vs promoting a business for Google Places. The differences include doing reviews for your business and a few other crucial things (search around and you'll find some good posts on how to do well in Google Places). Just backlinking and putting keywords in certain areas of your website is not enough...
