[Question] Instagram name change

I don't know if it's the right tread to post but since I'm here most of the time il just shoot here.
I have an Instagram meme account with around 10k followers, since it's really hard to monetize a meme account and make some profit off it, would deleting all my posts and rebranding my username to something in the same niche result in a shadowban?
My main idea is to promote affiliate products in the same niche as the meme page was about.

The actions themselves won't. Your followers will probably get confused at first & not interact at all, which then will lead to reduced engagement
 
Thanks, do you think it's better starting from scratch?
 
It might not get you shadow-banned but will kill your reach as rebranding it will make people forget that they followed you and that leads to huge percentage of unfollows.

And those who don't unfollow aren't probably active which is why they didn't unfollow in the first place so they won't engage with you either. The whole thing can backfire real bad if you don't do it right.

I would start from scratch... the people that followed you are interested in meme niche and probably followed you for that reason. Changing the username and the whole niche in general will cost you alot of unfollows, even if people don't unfollow you, they simply might not be interested in your niche and that will cause the EG rate to drop which will affect your account OVR - bad. Have you considered selling the account? 10K is reachable, I think if you pick a good niche, post quality content etc. you will be there from before you know it :)

A change of username won't result ina shadow ban but a change of posting style or pattern would negatively impact on your reach.

I did change the username of my IG page but I still post same niche content, I wasn't shadow banned because of that.

Reach in the terms of not showing on explore page?
I'm glad that I can hear from someone who has experience in this kind of problem first hand!

Reach essentially means the number of people that get to see your posts which includes your followers(from their home feed) and non followers from explore etc

Hi! I'm afraid that the accumulated audience will start to merge, not recognizing the content that they did not subscribe to, and your account.
 
Well I understand that, but since most of my followers are made true follow for follow method, idk what kind of impact would it have..
 
Rebranding can cause several issues to your account.

It all depends on what niche your account had and your new niche, if its completely different even with name change will cause confusion to your audience and a consistent loss in engagement, daily growth and others factors.


As I said, it depends.
