Not really Blackhat but just a question in general. Let's say a customer clicks on an item display on your website and is redirected to amazon's buy page. Lets say that customer doesn't purchase the exact item that your website redirected them too and instead they start browsing around amazon and find something else they liked and ended up purchasing that. Do you still get paid although the item purchased wasn't the exact item that you redirected them to?

* Now mind you, I would understand that you wouldnt get paid if they left the site and came back at a later time directly to Amazon to make a purchase you wouldnt get paid but my question is referring to getting redirected, never leaving the site, picking a new item and making a purchase.

Yes. You get credit for anything they buy, even if they leave the site, as long as they purchase item within 24 hours of being redirected from your site

How it works is, once they click your affiliate link they get your cookie on their computer for 24 hours. So it doesn't matter what they buy, as long as they get it from amazon within a 24 hour period, you will get credited.

It's a good idea to place your affiliate links on everything even the amazon TOS links on your website, in case the user clicks them and then ends up buying something on amazon.

Thanks fellas. I truly appreciate the info.

This is the great thing about Amazon affiliate program and why they can get away with only a 24hr cookie. Many people set up links as click bait to lure high volume amazon shoppers into clicking on them. On reddit for example people will post an ad for Katie Perry poster knowing the average redditor is going to click on it

You already get the answers from people above me. :D

thats why i love amazon. just make sure you get targeted buyer traffic and leave the rest to amazon.

You should consider also to add an amazon plugin localizer so to all your user will served the right amazon localization.
http://easyazon.com has it integrated.

Lots of people search for your review but then they move to their localized store to buy it.

Amazon's affiliate program, despite the low commission rates is one of the best affiliate programs, and the trust users have for Amazon along with their marketing expertise more than make up for the low commission rates.

What I love most about my Amazon stats is the number, types, and prices of the products I sold that I didn't promote on my site. It's such a profitable affiliate program.
