[Question] I just bought a 9k exact search domain...

Couple of questions actually, I'm new to SEO and would like some advice.

So I did some keyword research and found a niche with 9k exact searches and with all the searches for it having a pr of n/a - 1.

So first question, how hard would it be to get this to the number 1 search result and what strategies should I use for that.

is 9k exact searches for a keyword with low competition like this considered a good niche?

We are going to need more information, such as;

-Title comp
-Competitor links
-Emds on front page.

Just keep doing research and you will know if you are good to go.

There's a lot of SEO information available on here but I feel that's part of the problem, I'm not sure who exactly to follow, what services to buy etc.

Title is 2 words
there is basically no competition, just pr n/a and pr1's on the front page
I'm not sure what emds are

How do you know there is no competition? (I don't care who's on the first page, just let me know how did you come up with this?)

He said "How do you know there is no competition?" How much clearer could the question be!?!

I think he saw low competition on google keyword tools, because seems like OP is new to IM (no offence)

If all the searches have PR N/A-1, then chances are, the keyword should be easy to rank for top 3 spot even if you're a noob. I need more info such as backlink profiles of the top pages though to be sure though.

That's the profile of the second link, the first being an ebay search results page. It's obvious that the competition is low but regardless, why are people asking how I know there's low competition, why is it relevant when all the PR's suck?

9k excat is pretty decent, but it will depend on which categories you have the domain.. But still not bad i assume..

Thank's for the information

Set up a WordPress blog and write a post related to your keyword with good on-page SEO. If you do a good job of that and continue to add to your site with similarly related topics then judging by the information you've provided I'd expect you to rank pretty well within a month or so.

I'd try to build up a natural profile of backlinks involving my self in social media, doing blog comments and so forth with a site like that before expanding out to tier building when I start to see movement.

PageRank is not everything. In fact PageRank, often, means nothing. There are searches where PR 1-2 websites beat PR5-6 websites.

PageRank is a measure of the amount of link-juice flowing to a website, not a measure of how relevant to a particular search or how strong for a particular search a page is.

But regardless, it seems from the limited information given that this would be a pretty easy job. Build a small healthy diverse profile link and you should be seeing results.
