[Question]I am creating a Weight Loss PHPBB Forum, have a problem with SEO

Hello,
I have a very big and active Facebook page about weight loss so I thought I'd make a forum and expand with it. Right now I do not have the money to buy a vb license ( or any paying alternatives), so I'd have to stick with PHPBB. My main problem there is onsite SEO, first rarely any seo add-on there works plus the ones that work require very very advanced seo and technical knowledge in general which I do not have. Now, I have two questions and hope someone will help me out:

1. Is there a simple way to optimize a phpbb forum for SEO? like a specific plugin or guide you recommend.

2.If I do not do any onsite seo and instead get quality plugins will my forum be able to still get an excellent page rank?

i have a phpbb forum. i optimized it by adding simple stuff to the homepage like title, h1, h2, etc. got the keyword density to around 4% for the homepage

If you don't mind explaining further, how did you add the title h1, h2?
