[Question] How to create Author page but keep it no index

Hey all, hope you all doing great.

I saw some of my competitors are now creating author pages.

What I mean is, that there is a bit of info about the other and some bullshit socials. I checked each and every social media account especially the linkedin, and I can say they are fake.

But it is really useful for google's eeat. So, I was thinking of doing the same. I just can't seem to figure that out technically.

So, I need your help or guidance with the following, and I'd really appreciate it.

I have an about Wordpress page with bio and more info even fake socials. if they click on the author link on top of the post, it should send them to that page much like the petkeens authors.

I have also some of some competitors written by ***** checked by **** and both are links and will take the reader to that about page.

Can anyone suggest me some tutorial that can help me do this.

I am using Kadence WP free version, and my blog is very simple with only two authors.

You can fake your author about page, no problem. But why noindex them? It doesn't matter to index them on Google, if you insist, you can always set the page meta to "noindex" by using Yoast Seo plugin, or any popular one.

By default, when click on author, it will go to wordpress "author" category page isn't it? You can set this category page to noindex by Yoast too. Or maybe you add a link in the Bio section after each article, and like you said, direct the visitors to your "about" page when they want to read more about this author, then like I said, you can use Yoast to set this page to "noindex" if you really want to do this.

yeah, thank you I figured it out. Turns out I was just leaving the Author website field empty. And for some reasons, the theme was already redirecting the user to home page. After I included some random page first, it showed 404 then I decided to put the about page. oh I also hadn't put the Yoast as the main breadcrumb manager or something.

Anyways thank you for you help, it propelled me to the right direction

There is a Yoast setting, Search Appearance, author archives.

If you turn off this option, means you don't want to show author archive page to readers, so when anyone click the author hyperlink below the article title, or wherever it shows clickable link, it will redirect to homepage! By default, there is no Yoast plugin installed, so visitors will go to author archive page, since it is duplicated contents bad for SEO? Many people tend to turn off of this. (hope I am right on this)

If you have multiple authors in a blog, you may want to turn on this (default), I don't see big harm on this.

But if you want to show a customized page e.g. "about author" page when users click it, I guess there are some plugins can change the default behaviors of Wordpress, or you manually add hyperlinks in the Bio section and disable the default clickable author name? And you can always control index/noindex by an seo plugin like Yoast.

I think it would be possible to create separate author pages and send the users to that page if they click on the bio link. but sometimes some blogs do it in such a way that when you click on a link on the breadcrumbs it takes you to a page and shows you all the posts that were published by that author. And if this practice, I am not sure, is good or not.

But those are bigger blogs, I think they know what they are doing and so, maybe it is not so bad.

But what I am looking to do is to have this thing like some other big blogs do where they have a link to the written by the author, then expert or checked by another author. it kinda shows professionalism, any idea how?
