[Question] How much time is it taking you to get new websites ranked?

So, here's a little back story. I've been trying to get back at ranking sites since the past few months.

I had left SEO at my peak ($1000-2000/day was pretty regular from my affiliate sites, and maybe that got me too comfortable) to test out new offline businesses and I had been using my private network to get the sites ranked.

However, right now I'm doing pretty much everything right and still there is little to no result. I even built a new blog netwrk (different hosting, unique content, clean designs) because there might have some issues developed with the old one over time.

Are you guys seeing an increase in the time it takes to get fresh sites ranked?

How much is your regular waiting period?

I can see that the sites ranking for all my old keywords are atleast 6-8 months old.

Maybe I'm just being impatient and I need to give it more time before I move on to a different site.

Sadly I'm running out of the funds I had saved and I really need to get back my revenue streams.

Any advice is appreciated. :)

I have to admit that unfortunately we haven't ranked really anything new after may/june updates. SERPs seem to be almost like 'stuck', nothing really moves to any meaningful positions.

We've tried and tested a lot of different things, but nothing have yet worked for newer websites.

Would like to hear others results also.
 
What kinda offline business venture was worth losing focus on a system that was generating $1,000 to $2,000 a day? Jesus H. Christ
 
No idea what big G is doing now, but it seems that they have put a slow down on regular stuff (where there is keyword competition) from new pages preventing it from ranking fast.
I have a little project, site is about 2 months old and I have one page which is only 1 month old. It is extreme niche, but its on serp 1 now. I think thats a exception as its a product review of a product that is very new only 3 retailers have it in my country.
Saying that, I have no backlinks, so maybe that would give a different result.
 
This is what everybody is calling the "waiting period" (which affects new pages and new backlinks) meaning it is difficult to rank quickly new websites.

An idea i'm about to test, is creating just a few high quality tier 1 links (5 to 10 max):
- High PR guest posts (from aged domains)
- High quality web 2.0 websites (at least 4 unique hand written articles per website)

During the first month or two, build high PR blog posts to tier 1 links with the main focus on the high PR Guest posts.


A lot of people have been saying that rankings progress but then get stuck at one moment or another after increasing their link builiding. Therefore, my idea is to create a very limited amount of tier 1 links, but HQ and with a lot of power (link juice).

To get this power, simply build links using high PR blog posts (tier 2) and link juice will then be transfered to tier 1 and money site. This should work (but to be confirmed) since these high quality tier 1 links should hopefully not be affected (especially the high PR guest posts) since they are from aged authority domains.

Patience is the name of the game now. It's either you wait or you quit. I have only built 1 new site in the past 5 months and that site (now 1.5 months old) is ranking on the 9th page for a low-competition keyword (just 1600 monthly searches). I'm still building links and waiting. This blog post might answer your question:

I guess I've been having the same problems too... It's kinda frustrating.. it would help if someone gave us some inspiration by prooving us wrong... I know there are guys who do it, but I hope there are other guys, other than the gurus.
 
I can rank any site in 1 week up to 1st SERP.

And I can get first 20 visits/day in 2 weeks.
 
You need to have patience for SEO, it always takes time. In the meantime, you can continue creating new sites and ranking them as well, and so on. :)

I'm facing similar issues with ranking main kw. However, almost half my longtail kws are on the first page of big G after a good 3 months ranking. Which is which??

I'm doing my own case study with 12 quality sites, i've spent alot of money in outsourcing and alot of hours getting this thing going.

1 website is 2.5 months / 75 days old. Medium comp keyword with barely any real comp in the search engines. At this very moment it already has ~ 800 quality contextual backlinks. I've got a divers anchor portfolio consisting of 100 + keywords (long tail/pillow/blanco/branded)

Fully optimised content / internal linking / meta descriptions and custom sidebars.

Currently serp 100+ or temp out of the serp results. 75+ days!

I've tried building slower links and waiting weeks with building links. In 2013 i managed to rank page 1 within 4 weeks easily. Results please!
 
Currently testing a site in a small niche. Added content and site was around 140 in Google for its main keyword, stayed like this for a couple of weeks. Added some high PR/relevant links and the site immediately shot to number 20. No matter what I do now, the site just bounces around between 20-35. Site is a few months old now but it will not go any lower than 20.

I'll try a few more links to see what happens!

As I read in another thread and along with the data I had from working on one of my old client's site. I think age of the page where your link is placed matters more than the age of the site.

Here's the case study:

1. Ranked his website at #5-6 for a 60k/month keyword that brings direct business to him.

2. He rebranded and I placed the links on my same set of blogs (part of my private network) and he jumped to #13 in a matter of days. I just had to add a few more links and it would've been on Page 1 with ease.

However, I have him on hold while I "figure it out" and have a repeatable process.

Well honestly, it was all passive and things got too easy. I wasn't really learning anything new.

However, I agree it was a mistake. Anyway, got to work with what I have now. :)

I made it with $0 in the bank, I can surely do it with a few thousand. hehe.
 
5 months for local site to get to 1 first page with PBN/social signals/content creation.
Felt like an eternity.

Age of the backlinks is certainly the deciding factor here and my test with one of my client's site as mentioned above.

Apart from that, I use my blog network sites to target secondary keywords relevant to my primary keyword for lower competition kws and suprisingly, just with good content, these sites are showing up in top 10 pages for their respective target keywords.

This has given me a chance to test a few strategies on them as well.

I'll start a new thread with what's working for me, If I do get it right. :)
