Question - How do you do SEO with multiple suburbs in the region

I tried to search but didn't find what I was looking for on this topic. How do you guys address SEO when you're in a region where there are multiple suburbs that the niche might cover.

For example, let's say you're trying to do some SEO work for an attorney in a suburb of a major city (let's say Chicago) but want to try and rank the attorney for the whole region how do you go about doing so. Is it just a matter of taking some time and building keywords related to say attorney in 'suburb' for the all the different suburbs in the region? I'm just trying to think about how to handle something like this, because there might only be 30 or 40 searches for attorney in 'suburb' but if you added up the whole region it might be 400 searches. Just trying to think about what it would take to be included in those 400 searches and not just those 40.

Interested as well. As far as I know, you'd have to work individually for each suburb.

Make specific site for each suburb(could be subdomain).

If you have the cash, make a site for each with a separate .com, promote individually. If you don't have the cash, focus on one suburb until you nail it.

This an easy way that I've learn from this guy. But pretty much what he did was simply. he add a h1 tag with the city name and added a sub folder for that city. and than he link the city name to that folder. and he added content and he was ranking. if any questions pm me

I'd suggest having a look at volumes...do people really look for a service THAT local or are they happy to just search for service Chicago?

Is G not smart enough to know the different counties which make the area up and just base the results on a broader area?

I've googled cook county lawyer and it gives me useless results. I've googled chicago lawyer and it give me google local-based results.

I would just go for the big fish
