Hello,

I see lame websites that rank top 10,000 alexa ranking. How does Alexa rank websites? And what is the easiest method that it's manipulated?

The reason I care for this is because that is the only ranking system that my boss follows, sucks for me.

Regards,

Well most of them found time travel and made it back to 2000 when people were actually looking at Alexa rankings. Alexa is easily manipulated with fake traffic. There are hundreds of suppliers, a few even on BHW, that sell traffic that will manipulate Alexa rankings

You can easily manipulate Alexa rankings by installing Alexa bar in your browser and visiting the site yourself. I tried it myself in 2019 and pushed my site into top 1 Million within 3 weeks by visiting it 10-15 times a day. It's possible to reach up to 10k if you have multiple browsers and visit the site multiple times everyday.

Isn't the Add-on only for Chrome browsers?
Thanks for the tip!

Is Alexa still in business of ranking websites?

The easiest method is to publish frequently and get some social signals. You can also buy bot traffic with Alexa extension installed.

can the same be done with similarweb and its toolbar? https://chrome.google.com/webstore/...rank-w/hoklmmgfnpapgjgcpechhaamimifchmp?hl=en

I don't think if it's possible with similarweb as they collect data from 3rd party sites. They have more data like organic/referral traffic, user engagement, outgoing links etc. Moreover, it'll be suspicious if 100% users are from direct traffic without any organic or social media traffic. It's better to do CTR manipulation on Google instead of tweaking similarweb rank.
