[QUESTION] Has anyone tried Lasik?

I had mine done about 6 years ago and paid a similar amount to BTB. I went to the UK's top eye hospital as I didn't want to take any risks.

I had LASEK as opposed to LASIK because I was told there were fewer complications and the success rate was higher. The downside is that the recover period is longer.

I was warned that I might get some issues with driving at night for the first year, but it should settle down quite quickly. I didn't experience this, but I did have dry eyes for the first 6 months of so (I didn't care so much as I had experienced this for years with soft contacts).

Would I recommend this to someone else? Absolutely. It made a huge difference to my life. Just being able to wake up and see 20/20 was an incredible feeling. After 15 years of wearing contacts with the countless problems I experienced, I am so much happier now to be rid of contacts.

it's true, i did the PRK procedure where the laser hits the outside.... i have no first hand experience with lasik... anyone remembers?

My friend got LASIK done. Everything was smooth, also search up about your doctor first.

Okay so this morning I got up and spit in a cup a bunch and then dumped that into my eyes while I chugged a carrot orange walnut smoothie. Then I spent four hours doing eye exercises while doing some yoga. Popped some Indian eye drops in and then punched myself in the dick for some origin point therapy.

I think it's working, although now I'm pissing blood, shitting orange, and everything is blurry.

To the rest of the society, what we do here is hocus pocus too. Mocking what you don't understand isn't exactly... constructive.

LASIK works on some issues. There's virtually a metric shit ton of potential pathologies when talking about the eyes. So the first thing you need to do is go to a good eye doctor to zero-in on your specific case. It's not like "oh, I can't see well, let's book a LASIK and I'll be great" kind of thing.

I recently returned from holiday and in the fitness/wellness complex was a blackboard with various treatment offers. At the bottom, was "Are you suffering from heart palpitations or chest pain? Book a 3D heart scan with our resident doctor for $249".

Now aside from the fact that they claimed their 3D heart scan was 50x more advanced than a CT or MRI scan (*cough* bullshit *cough*), the most ridiculous thing was the resident doctor only had a "medical degree in naturopathic medicine" from India.

12 months earlier, his medical skills were really put to the test when an epileptic guest at the hotel suffered a cardiac arrest. He was apparently about as much use as a chocolate tea pot (fortunately another guest was an actual doctor and managed to bring the patient out of VF and saved her life). You would think a life changing event like that would make someone think twice before continuing to profess their 'medical skills', but clearly not.

@Nerva If you're in the UK, I highly recommend Mr Julian Stevens at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He is one of the pioneers of refractive eye surgery in the UK and has huge amounts of experience.

I've done TransPRK. And I truly only recommend this, because this method makes your eyes heal way more and better.
The methods which they open a piece of "skin eye" and laser, and afterwards close it back for heal... never heals a 100%. So if you're for example having a sport like boxing, this would be a really bad idea. But just in general, I recommend TransPRK since this is the safest + best healed method.

Edit: "Corneal flap" is the right word. Don't do that.
