Hey everyone, I was curious—can a business get penalized by Google for posting fake reviews (e.g., 5+ fake reviews)? And if so, could this result in their profile not showing up in search results anymore?

Yes, fake reviews will be removed, the business will loss trust from google which will ultimately affect in the search ranking and can get algorithmic penalty as well.

Usually, the reviews are removed from the SERPs,
It's less likely you'll get penalized because of that

Google tries to avoid algorithmic decisions that could be abused. if google removed business sites from search for fake reviews, it would be a vulnerability anyone could exploit to hurt competitors—just flood any business with a bunch of 5-star reviews.

No, I dont think so. If this can happen, I can post fake reviews to my competitor and he gets penalized. So much AI power google has that he can sniff manipulation. No need to penalize anyone.

Google now very strict about fake reviews.
Google will remove all fake reviews from your business page.
Also, have a chance to get banned your business page from GMB.

Yes, businesses can get penalized for fake reviews. Google may remove the reviews, suspend the profile, or even delist it from search results if detected.

Even with fake or rather paid reviews, it is the quality that matters. The Google accounts must be well farmed and reviews made in an organic manner. Do not appear spammy by putting loads of reviews suddenly.
