Question for the MAC users ...

I'll be starting classes on Feb 28th... At Fullsail online. I'm enrolled in they're graphic design program.

Problem is the school teaches on the MAC platform, I haven't touched an apple computer since the IIg/s lol.... yes I'm that old

Anyways, I'm a PC guy.... How difficult is it going to be to learn the apple
platform? My advisor is telling me, it's not difficult to learn, and that once I start using it, I wont want to go back to PC lol

They don't provide a mac for free but they offer a package at a discount, that I can use my financial aid toward.... Is this a good deal?

That's not too bad, but you are paying a lot. the mbp by itself will cost you $2199


As a blackhatter, why not save the money, get a 17" MBP and torrent adobe etc..

Mac's are not difficult to learn at all.

I bought Apple MacBook Pro, 15" 2.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 4GB SDRAM, 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 RPM,512 Nvidia Graphics processor,Snow leopard.

Cost : 2000$.

In fact, i prefer macs to PC's. They are faster and easy to use.


But if you are into IM fulltime then MAC's are not preferred.

all u need to know is that the Minimize, Maximize and close buttons are on left

i know man lol
but since hes a graphic designer, he's probably really going to use Ps and Ai mostly + some keys combos..
and there's nothing special about MAC. If u are comfortable with a PC, you'll do fine on a MAC. its basic knowledge + common sense

Yeah, The package includes the Adobe CS5 Master Suite, which I believe is everything they offer, PS, AI, Premier, Dreamweaver, and others I've never used lol

Plus Final Cut Pro x ... I just looked these up, and combined, a license at retail value is almost $3000 by itself....

Thx for the comments guys, I was just worried about getting behind in class, using a different platform, but it sounds like it wont be difficult....

The way software's function will mostly be the same except the shortcut keys (which will be used mostly during designing).


But if you ask me to choose between a mac and a PC,i would definitely go with a mac.

Alot of graduates, are working on some pretty major projects, many of them are nominated for Grammy's this year... Like Transformers 3, and Captain America.

One of their grads is the lead designer for Zynga Games... so that has to say something good about them

I don't really have a choice... They're letting me use My Financial Aid to pay for it... I don't have that kind of cash to buy it myself... and if the Adobe sweet and final cut are retailed at $2900.... How am I paying too much? I'm getting the Macbook pro and The software for $3000
