I red in an e-book that you should always repost pictures from other accounts and give them credit (or the photographer).

Am I allowed to just edit images from google images and add my signature name on it? Is this considered copyright infringement?

    Thanks for clearing that up!

I give credit to the original poster or photographer as much as possible. Do NOT edit any of their photos and add your own name on it.

Thats actually a tricky question, but here are the answers:

It is a violation of copyright law & IG terms to repost other people's content, even if you do give them credit, unless they have specifically granted you a license to do so. That being said, 99.9% of copyright holders will not object to IG reposting if you do give them credit, and therefor absolutely nothing will happen 99.9% of the time. You do still run a small risk of some people filing copyright violations even if you do give them credit.

If you are just adding your watermark to other peoples content, you are surely going to piss them off, even if you credit them, and you will super piss them off if you don't credit them, and you are going to be reported if they find out about it. If you're stealing artwork from random 16 year olds they are likely to never find out though. If you are stealing from artists with a large following, or a large corporation with an IP department, they are going to find out and file complaints. I've filed probably 100 IG reports against people for posting uncredited/re-watermarked versions of my content, and I find almost every post because my following is large enough that I'm gonna get tagged by multiple of my followers on any post that gets any traction on the explore page.

If you are editing other people's work to create a "new original work" that is based off an original work, that is a legal gray area and is ruled on a case by case basis depending on if your alterations are considered "transformative" by the judge & jury. This guy for example:

    http://www.artinamericamagazine.com...ins-major-victory-in-landmark-copyright-suit/

just takes other people's Instagram posts, prints them out on a big canvas and adds a new caption for them, and sells them to retarded rich people for $100k. Courts have ruled in his favor that that falls under fair use because his captions are "transformative."

Its a big no-no, just do a search on here and you'll find users complaining they got their accounts permanently banned because they STOLE other peoples images.

    Who knew!?

Great answer and congrats that you have so many followers. Have you ever used content of others and if so, did you always asked the owner for permission?
And if you have still time: how many followers do you have currently, how much time did it take and how did you do that?

I've never used other's content on my main account no, it's all original content. It's very niche so there isn't anyone else's content that would fit. I've got about 120k followers right now, growing at about 500/day completely organically without any follow/unfollow, engagement groups, or bots. The account just turned 1 year old a few weeks ago.

I do have one other small account, only 10k followers, which I repost other's content on w/credit and have never had a problem, and lots of people actually tag that account trying to get me to repost their stuff. I originally started that account just so I throw the occasional repost from my main account onto it and send myself a few followers, but it turned out to be not very efficient, especially considering how fast my main account has grown. At the moment I'm not really using that 10k account at all, and just make very occasional posts to keep it from completely dying.

    Same.
You could just use white border to put your watermark on a video. That way you won't trigger people
