Question for the advanced seo marketers

I have registered a new .net domain.

To give an example let's call it "forthehouse.net"
If I go to google keyword tool, this keyword has:
global exact monthly searches: 260
global phrase monthly searches: 823,000
global broad monthly searches: 9,140,000

This is normal since nobody will type "for the house" alone but will type many things like "furniture for the house", "maid for the house", etc..

Now to target these keywords, do you think it is better to use subdomains or subdirectories?
For example to target "furniture for the house", would you use furniture.forthehouse.net or forthehouse.net/furniture.html
What do you think also about forthehouse.net/furnitureforthehouse.html

I am asking this because I realized that the order in which the words (of a certain keyword) in the domain is displayed affects a lot rankings especially if you are not doing extensive marketing campaigns.

IMO, I'd prefer subdirectories. Gives recognition to the root domain.

I'd like to hear the answer to this as well.

I probably wouldn't go with subdomains, but I'm no seo expert.

Today and tomorrow you'll need domain authority, and this is the way to.
I have wonderfull results with http://forthehouse.net/furniture/ (remember that short links are better). And use breadcrumbs meta code on your site too.

And another thing that I remembered: your juicy flows better this way. If you raise your root domain pagerank, it'll flow to your subdirectories (if you construct your pages well coded).

Agreed. Testing shows that subdomains are not helpful in building up the rank of the root a domain. Stick with talruum's plan and use subdirectories.

I would go with subdirectories. That's what I've been doing in my sites.

But I never tried domain directories.
