[Question For Full-Time IMers] Where Do You Do Your Work?

If you are making $20k a month then spending $900 is reasonable, have you hired any staff or you work alone?

I work at home, mainly because I like to work in just my underwear and they tend to frown upon that in offices

No staff, just me alone. My total expenses for IM with my office is about $1750 a month. Regardless, I find IM more risky than ever now.
Because I experience a major web 2.0 wipeout recently.
That really opened my eyes and made me become insecure about IM as a full-time job. AND that is why I'm also afraid to extend my office lease term for 1 more year.
Imagien another wipe out and my income becomes less or even worst, nada $0.

Of course, one should always remember there are always risks and benefits in everything. Like for IM, I'm self-employed and I can do whatever I want. Freedom in exchange for job security.
Or job security but trapped in a 9-5 job. Of course, we all prefer the former.

And to the others, LOL! Your replies made me laugh so hard I don't think I can sleep tonight. LOL! But true, I love spending time with my family too (with my mom, dad and brother). Yes, I'm Asian so yeah, we still live in families together until we get married and get our own home. Still haven't got a gf though. Never had a gf before and I'm 24. Yeap, wtf isn't it?


I also believe in keeping monthly expenses as low as possible in case if shit happens one day. Like major Google update that can wipe out all our sites.

Well, Blogspot and Tumblrs did some major clean up. I don't know if it is just me or something. But a lot of them were removed.
Not just that, several other "not well known" web 2.0 properties are doing major clean ups. I was surprised when it happened to me.

Because in the past, one could easily create a blogspot and not worry about it. The chance of getting it removed by Blogger/Google is like 0.05%. That's how I feel it.
I created many affiliate/CPA blogs without any problems.

But since November, I began to realize they are reviewing the sites people has created. Even sites that I have not even logged on for months were wiped out.

Worked 2 years from home and rented a place at $70 and its about a year now. Good to have a place where my fellow IMers can come and discuss ideas.

Home, Office, Earth, etc etc... doesn't matter... The important thing is you work..

From Last 2 Months I am working in a Room in my home. In-House Office.

That sounds bad man.. I have also started thinking that IM is not a stable thing.. we all are just 1 bad decision away from loosing all of our income...

Yeap. it's pretty messed up.
First, it was google updates that threaten our money sites.

Now, web 2.0 providers are also wiping out any sites that is suspected of advertising.
Not to mention, useless competitors who aren't capable of ranking their own sites can even sabotage your hardwork.

It's pretty crazy, really. We're losing a lot of control. Even whitehat sites that doesn't resort to 'backlinking schemes' are penalized easily now.

I guess "free" traffic from search engines is a thing of the past. We're now being forced to either move on to social media sites or forced to pay for clicks/traffic.

So SEO has changed pretty a lot. It doesn't really make sense now. lol.
I believe we have to "re-learn" SEO now.

I have read with interest all your comments, for me i do work from home i'm disabled and not able to walk much, i have a 16 month old daughter so have big distractions but luckily my dad comes down 3 days a week so i can get on with things, but i'm going to be changing thinks i have had a Summerhouse built at the bottom of the Garden i'm just insulating it and putting plasterboard all over which is a challenge with my condition, but going to get someone in to skim it all, i have all my furniture ready to go in ie desks filing cabinets etc. This will then become my work office and its out of bounds for everyone unless its a emergency. I need the Space and be away from distractions. Call it my man den lol

Home, school, library, pretty much anywhere as long as I have my phone and laptop. But I prefer working at home when I need that extra power, my lappy can't handle much when it comes to video editing. I find the best way to get rid of distractions around me is to wear some headphones.

it's really very unstable , you have good income now.

why not you place eggs in more baskets ?
i mean start a taxi company (you can rank it in google local and double profit )
or make a restaurant (again your im will help you through google local)

i am also thinking about getting a easyday outlet after i got money to invest.
