Thanks but if they dont carry any value then dont create diversity . Natural diversity should be of the links which G will value .

Because there is an amazing blind spot in the Google search rank algorithm that fails to recognize the sudden appearance of hundreds of profile links on sites as diverse as the Ivan Vazov Language School Accents in the English Language Forum, the Flat Earth UFO Truth forum, and the Banana Whipped Cream Monkey Porn forum. All of which the attractive young girl in the forum picture has set up in the last 9 minutes.

Apparently it has something to do with dividing by zero within the Main Google Page Rank algorithm.

SEVEN reasons i can think of in no particular order for acquiring FORUM PROFILES:

    1. if you want large numbers of generic backlinks to your website (not recommended for long term sites) or to your web 2.0's (recommended) - theyre almost on a par with blog comments for ease and speed

    2. probably the easiest and best way of getting .edu backlinks

    3. also probably the easiest and best way of getting .gov backlinks

    4. as mentioned by earlier poster, they provide diversity to your link structure in the eyes of the search engines

    5. you can find high PR forums to place your links on - you need to decide whether or not you want them going to your website or your web 2.0's based on your own criteria (some webmasters only want highly relevant backlinks regardless of PR)

    6. you can find highly relevant forums to your websites theme/subject and place your links on them for better 'targetting' in the search engines eyes

    7. with highly relevant links, you can point them directly to your website

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Profile links provide backlinks to your site.. And these links also increase importance of your site.. If 100 profiles(of different user) have link of your website in their profile then it indicates that these users like your site so they placed this link in profile.. This helps in improve importance of your site...

I still find high pr profile link pyramids work to some degree and are almost always part of my SEO strategy.

Plus, any anchor text links are good to tell Google what your site is about.
