I'm curious as to the development expertise required for building a web 2.0, modular site like Squidoo? What would the cost be to hire a developer with this expertise and what would be the expected time line. It wouldn't have to be as sophisticated, but users would need to the ability to use around 10 different modules to design their own page. I'm looking for honest answers here, not propositions. Thanks!

Depending on what the modules were it'd probably take 10-20 hours from wireframe to beta test, but there's at least a few squidoo clone scripts you could just buy for much less than what it would cost to develop one from scratch.

So I could just buy one and move to find a developer to modify the script to my specifications? Any idea what the cost and difficultly would be? Could a freelance developer do it without much trouble?
