Yo

Found a few EMD in my niche and I was wondering what sort of software (free) or web based apps do you guys use to check domain history and other related info? Mainly just to see if it's worth it to buy the domain.
I don't want to buy anything that's been banned or have bad links etc. How do I know if the domain is in good standing and worth buying?

Also, I found some broken links on a competitors website, the broken links lead to a domain that is available to register. Would it be a good idea to register that domain and 301 redirect it to my domain to sort of "pass the link juice" to my domain? or is this a stupid idea?

Thanks :)

moz, majestic seo and ahrefs are the few sites where you can get the domain and backlink information..

EMD's? Try not to get penalised by google, for the EMD. But in search terms for domain, use majestic, and ahrefs.

Yeah EMD is not working these days dude...:)

I mostly use Majestic, and take a look at what the site used to be like on wayback.

Cool, thanks guys :)

But I'm still not sure about the 301 redirect? I won't be building sites on these domains, just thought it might be a good chance for me to "steal" some link juice as these domains were owned by a competitor, now he is still linking to them from his main site but he doesn't own the domains anymore, thus I wanted to register them and just 301 redirect them to my main site? Should I go for it? Will it penalize my site? or just scrape the entire idea and go back to my corner and write content :P
