Hey guys..i orderd something from china and the seller told me i have to wait 2-3 weeks cause there are some holidays in China and the post office is closed.
Is that true or is he just trying to scam me ?

Thanks.

I will find out for you, my father lives in China. I'll post back with more information when I have it.

Yeah, Chinese New Year is coming very soon. Most companies in China closes up to a month, some even longer.

Ok, thanks guys :)

I am in China right now and i confirm, Chinese new year is coming :)

Ultimately you should have researched this in advance, but why THEY didn't mention this in advance Chinese New Year or not is tacky.

Why would a business that deals in international sales do something like this?

You have to know the background before you can make such a claim. People in China do not know what a 'weekend' is. They work 7 days a week, all year long. Hours varying from 12-16 hours a day. And that includes most jobs, not only the typical industry you see in the news. The stores are open from the early morning untill the late evening. And the only holiday these people get is this one.

Good online business needs trust & confident! If you don't trust on seller or they seems fishy then don't buy anything from them with doubt.

Thanks,
Bart

I'm Chinese, but I live in Singapore. Lunar New Year is coming, starting this Sunday, and in Singapore (NOT part of China) it lasts until Tuesday. In China people do rest for 2 weeks to 4 weeks.

yup..Chinese new year is coming, most Chinese will enjoy a 2-week long holiday, and Chinese do not work 7 days a weeks.

It's true. You're looking at close to March to get anything shipped to you unless it's a relatively small item. Bare in mind these guys have got a backlog to fill.

(Just came back from 3 weeks in GZ & HK)

Yeap, tis true. I'm going to Vegas for Chinese New Year - wonder what that is going to be like hahah

So many Chinese. It's called Spring Festival, like Christmas. Basically the festival last for 1 week(God I'd SOOOOO love it if it has 2-4 weeks vacation).
Back to the topic, the post office is not closed. It's just with 1.38 billion people went crazy at the same time, piles of goods need to be loaded and delivered, and most delivery men are enjoying their vacation at the mean time, delaying is common. But I doubt if it has to be 2-3 weeks. As I know, companies like TNT, FEDEX, UPS have agencies or branches in major cities, these carriers works just fine during the festival, just at higher price compare to local ones.
