Question: do follow link and no follow link

The backlink on my homepage is 99.9% do follow link.

But my competitor has the number one exposure ranking, and the competitor's page is 50% do follow link, 50% no follow link.

no follow link act as an important factor in raising the homepage ranking?

google use nofollow as a hint. They can use that for ranking or can ignore. If that no follow is from website that have good PA/Da still that give boost.
 
Some diversification is quite important with the help of no follow links.

At least that is what I have read on some other threads here on BHW.

Some belive that n0follow links are needed for diversification.

According to them, If you have only d0follow links, it might trigger a flag.

This is a good opportunity to test it.

Increase the amount of n0follow links and see what happens.

I think you're looking at the wrong thing.

Irrespective of the link attribute, if the sites providing the links aren't quality sites and relevant you'll not rank no matter the ratio of do follow to no follow.

Nevertheless, still try mixing them up if you want.

From my experience, my sites picks up no follow lonks on their own. I don't need to pay for those.

using 50% no following links doesn't related to the ranking. Using combination of both do follow and nofollow links used to make it looks natural gor google. They might have good backlinks and on page. That will be the reason for Ranking!
