Simple solution for this.

Use Hydrofluoric Acid. Hydrofluoric acid is a corrosive acid that is colorless and features a strong, unpleasant odor. It's typically used for things like mineral digestion, etching and surface cleaning. The health hazards are based on the type of exposure and the concentration, but it is known to destroy skin tissue and eat through bone. The acid doesn't stop there, it can also eat through metal. For these reasons, the acid must be stored in chemically appropriate containers.

Breaking Bad Style!

Hydrofluoric acid sears your nerve endings so you don't feel it, as it burns all the way to the bone. I rather not go anywhere near that stuff. I've heard a lot of times people don't even realize they spilled on themselves until its too late.

I always figured going to a junkyard where they scrap cars and having that big electroagnet zap it would work, but I could never try it out.

Op are you hiring some one to do the job or paying some one to answer the question its seems like you posted in wrong section Mods please move to right section

As of how to destroy the hard disk

Its Pretty Simple the only thing which holds the memory in hard disk is that two metal round disks they are easy to crack if you open the casing with some screw driver and if you feel like that's not enough put them in fire ( the broken Disk )

this will do the job dont need no acids no other things plain and simple

Hard drives taken from the World Trade Centers and the Shuttle Challenger had a good portion of their data recovered.

Software designed to overwrite data & erase a drive is probably the way to go.

Use some tools and rip it apart.. Taking apart computer stuff is fun! Then scratch it up, and use a magnet.

Put it in water bucket. Bake it with a microwave while wet. Done. :D

What Techxan said. I'f I'd want to be 100% sure I'd do like this:

1. Take it apart, extract the platters.
2. Move a neodynium magnet all over each platter.
3. Rub sandpaper over each platter.
4. Hammer it till it bends or breaks to pieces
5. Hammer all electronics until it is pieces
6. Burn it red hot or melt it (including electronics)

You could just melt it but we want to be 100% sure here.

overwrite it completely ...... and then damage it how good you can.

split the waist in different locations.

Do all of the above, in the order of the posts.

Anyway, I want to know WHY, rather than the HOW-TO...are you being watched by the NSA or something? Seriously dude, what is on that HD?

Op is sleeping without caring 35 replies to his problem.

Why not just crypt your whole system with TrueCrypt? This way you don't have to destroy anything, just use a very strong password & use it only for that part. No one in the next couple of years would be able to get into your system without the password, mayber aber 15 years it would be possible.
